Pomegranate mulled wine 

Serves 8


  • 1 bottle light red wine (e.g. Pinot Noir)
  • 1 l pomegranate juice (unsweetened)
  • juice of one orange
  • bit of orange zest
  • 1 dl Demerara sugar
  • 3 star anise
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • For garnish a handful of pomegranate seeds, orange slices and some rum (optional)
Pour all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover and allow the flavours to develop for 30 minutes. Before serving heat again and serve from heatproof glasses with pomegranate seeds and orange slices. You can also add a dash of dark rum into each glass.
