Herring and rye bread salad with strawberries (Heeringä-rüäleevä saladi maaskitõga)
Serves 10
- 320 g salted herring fillet
- 320 g rye bread
- 60 g onion
- 70 g sour cream
- 140 ml whipping cream
- 20 g chives
- 140 g strawberries
- Salt and pepper (if desired)
Clean the herring and cut it into small pieces. Crumble the bread in a mixer. Chop the onion into small cubes. Hull the strawberries and cut them into small pieces. Chop the chives. Combine the sour cream and non-whipped whipping cream; season with salt and pepper, if desired, depending on the saltiness of the herring. Layer all the components in a serving dish: bread, herring, onion, strawberries, chives, etc. Pour the cream dressing over the ingredients and garnish with strawberries.
